How were Dobermans bred?

Dobermans are a german dog breed. The breeder is Friedrich Louis Doberman (1834–1894) according to official information. Some unofficial information says that the first breeder was Goswin Tischler. He named the breed after the tax collector Mr. Doberman from Apolda. Mr. doberman was a “sharp dog”, which in German means as much as an authoritarian man. This characteristic applies to the dog breed.

How big can a Doberman get?

Dobermans get a height at withers of 63cm to 72cm. Males up to 72cm and females up to 68cm. Dobermans become between 10 and 13 years old.

How much does a Doberman weight?

A Doberman can be expected to weigh about 32 to 45 kg. Here there is also a difference between males and females. Males weigh between 40-45 kg and bitches between 32-35 kg.

What colors do dobermans have?

Dobermans exist in different forms. Dobermans have basically black or dark brown smooth fur with rust-red markings. Further fur-colors are blue, white and isabell. Dobermans belong to the working dogs. They are used in many sports because of their intelligence and temperament. But Dobermans are also used as tracking dogs or service dogs for police or military. Dobermans are also suitable as rescue, therapy and guide dogs for the blind.
